Services
Translation & revision
We provide translation-based services for patent documents. This primarily concerns the complete written translation and/or revision of patent documents.
A translation order will typically include certain quality control tasks as standard: a full translation (with any associated research), revision and proofreading.
Sometimes clients may already have translations of reasonable quality that require a second pair of eyes to check over them. This type of revision is also possible. Although this can be cheaper than an entirely new translation of a text, the requirements to study, research, conform terminology and apply similar cognitive processes involved in the translation process (i.e. when comparing the source and target texts) often mean that the difference in price is not substantial. Moreover, the use of computer-assisted translation tools for QA purposes will mean that a document has to be segmented and imported into such a tool for the revision process and then exported effectively as a new document/file.
Miscellaneous
Ad-hoc ancillary services are also possible, so please inquire as to whether we can meet any special requirements that you may have.
The necessity for OCR conversion of non-text-based non-editable file formats (e.g. PDF or image-based files from scanned documents) will normally entail additional costs. (Particularly poor-quality scanned material may be turned down due to the associated unreasonably large effort required to decipher text).
Patent document types
The patent documents we translate include: patent abstracts, descriptions, claims, examiner reports/opinions (written opinions of the International Searching Authority) and appeal letters.
Languages
At present, we only translate from German and/or Russian into English.
